Hubballi: The Union Home Ministry has instructed the State Revenue Department to rename the Hubballi railway station after Siddharoodha Swamiji, the venerated seer of North Karnataka.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Karnataka, Lalita T. Hedaoo, Undersecretary to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the Union government has no objection to change the name of Hubballi Railway Station as Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station, Hubballi.
Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi has expressed gratitude over twitter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Railway Minister Piyush Goel, for having positively responding to his recent request to rename the Hubballi station.
Lalita Hedaoo has requested that the State government to issue the required gazette notification spelling the new name accordingly in Devnagri (Hindi), Roman (English) and regional languages.
Various organisations that had sought renaming the railway station after the swamiji have welcomed the order and thanked the Central government.
