BBMP to run mobile schools for out-of-school children in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Ten old buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) service have been transformed into mobile schools and will begin conducting bridge courses for out-of-school children in various zones across the City.

According to the sources, one bright yellow bus has already been allotted to each zone by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Following specific directions from the High Court of Karnataka, the civic body took up this project to identify out-of-school children and provide bridge courses to bring them into mainstream.

The BBMP has also re-assigned teachers from its day-care centres for this purpose. Each bus will have four teachers, one of whom will be a helper (ayah). All of the necessary teaching materials and aids have been provided.

According to the sources, the first bus has already been sent to Rajarajeshwarinagar zone. The mobile schools will be run by Zonal Joint Commissioners and would serve students in backward areas.
