Puneeth Rajkumar (46), a top-notch popular actor from Kannada film industry has passed away following a heart attack in the city on Friday October 29. Thus, a short but one of the most eventful life and professional career of an amiable gentleman comes to an end.
His mortal remains would be kept for public viewing at Kanteerava Stadium in the City.
He was born in the family of actors with his father being Karnataka’s matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, brothers being famous actors Shiva Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar. Fondly known as Appu apart from being a popular actor was a talented playback singer, television presenter, and producer. A lead actor in over 29 films his commercially successful films are Appu, Vamshi, Jackie, Hudugaru and Raajakumara among others. As a child artiste his popular movies are Vasantha Geetha, Chalisuva Modagalu, Eradu Nakshatragalu, and Bettada Hoovu for which he won a National Award for Best Child Artiste to name a few.
One of the highest-paid actors in the Kannada cinema he made his television debut as a television presenter on the game show Kannadada Kotyadhipati in 2012, which endeared him further to scores of his fans.
Puneeth, just like his father, was one of the very few actors who aced singing too. He was into production of television serials and movies too.
He also owned the Bengaluru Premier Futsal team. Puneeth was a philanthropist too with being involved in Shakti Dhama Ashram, Mysuru among many other activities.
Puneeth was born as Lohit. He married Ashwini Revanth from Chikkamagaluru in 1999 and has two daughters Drithi and Vanditha.
