Dharawad: A sugarcane field was gutted in fire at Gowdageri Village in Kundgol Taluk of the District.
The fire broke out in 2 acres and 20 guntas of sugarcane crop on the farms of Hanumantha Ningappa Kambali and Sharanappa Battur of Gowdageri Village. Though the locals informed the Fire Brigade that the sugarcane crop had caught fire, by the time the fire brigade personnel visited the spot and carried out the operation, the sugarcane field was completely gutted in the fire.
The incident took place in Gudageri Police Station limits and how the sugarcane crop caught fire is yet to be ascertained after a Police investigation and an inspection by Revenue Department officials.
